CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Proper care is essential for a beautiful result. Follow these instructions for optimal healing.
Basically: In the first two weeks after getting a tattoo, you should wash your hands thoroughly and, if possible, disinfect them before touching the tattoo.
1. Remove Bandage
- Suprasorb-Folie (Second Skin): Wear for at least 24 hours, max 4 days. Then carefully peel off under warm water.
- Sterile wound compress: Wear for at least 4 hours, ideally 8–12 hours (e.g. overnight), so that excess ink, wound secretions and fluids are absorbed.
2. Cleaning
Gently wash the tattoo with clean water and pH-neutral, perfume-free soap and carefully pat dry or let it air dry (do not rub). Slight redness or swelling is normal.
3. Care
Over the next 2 weeks, apply a thin layer of wound healing ointment (e.g. Bepanthen, Vitawund, Hustlebutter) about 3 times a day.
→ Less is more: it is better to apply thinly more often than too thick at once.
Always wash your hands before applying lotion. Do not cover the tattoo afterwards – let it heal open.
4. What to avoid
- Sauna, solarium, chlorine or salt water – absolutely taboo! (min 6 weeks)
- No direct sunlight (min 6 weeks)
- No full baths, only showering. (min 2 weeks)
5. Sun Protection
After the healing phase, always use sunscreen with SPF 50+ when sunbathing – preferably natural and without many additives. UV protection permanently maintains the color intensity of your tattoo.
6. Healing Process
After 3–4 days, a crust may form and itching may occur – do not scratch!
Slight redness, swelling, or rarely bruising are normal at first, especially in mobile areas (e.g. wrist, knee, ankle).
7. Clothing & Hygiene
- Do not wear strongly colored or synthetic fabrics – preferably old, dark cotton clothing.
- Keep animal hair (dog, cat, etc.) away at all costs.
- Use mild detergents.
Use common sense: Treat your tattoo like a fresh wound.
